Andrew Wilson, 18, was yesterday given his pretrial liberty after making a court appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
It was alleged that Wilson, on December 23, and again on January 18, at Enachu Landing broke and entered Kenrick Montrose’s shop and stole a quantity of items.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was represented by Attorney-at-law Leslie Sobers who, in a bail application, told the court that Wilson was working at the Enachu Landing at the time of the incident.
The lawyer further told the court that his client was questioned by the police for his suspicious behaviour, but was not given a chance to answer. According to the lawyer, he was just shot in the back by the police and rendered paralysed.
Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith objected to bail. According to the prosecutor, the items which were mentioned in the charge were found in the defendant’s crotch.
Bail was granted in the sum of $60,000. Wilson is expected to make his next court appearance on April 15.
