Fifty-two horses, improved track conditions and a top prize of $370,000 for the feature race are just some of the variables that make the Kennard Memorial Turf Club Phagwah Day race meeting, slated for tomorrow, an exciting proposition as Turfites gear up for a day of keen rivalry.
Scheduled for the Club’s Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne headquarters, seven events are slated for the day and apart from the feature attraction slated for 7 furlongs, horse-race lovers can look forward to stiff competition in the ‘F’ and Lower Class, the ‘H’ and Lower class, ‘I’ and Lower Class, ‘K’ and Lower Class and the ‘L’ class for non winners.
Horse owners will compete for over 3 million dollars in prize money plus the added incentive of trophies.
A stable of well-bred animals will be on show. They include Annie’s Playmate, Sweet Sudden Charm and Jade (American bred), while locally bred horses include Sequin, World Class, Little Panie, Alphabet, Jumbo Joy, Laura Lee in Flight, Sir Balajee, Pinch de Cash, Sharkira and Jumbo Joy.
With such a lucrative lineup, organizers are encouraging horse race lovers to come early and be a part of the action.
