The national junior selectors have invited 30 players to participate in three trial matches for possible selection on the national under-15 team for the regional youth tournament which is set for Guyana next month.
The first trial match is fixed for Tuesday at the Police Sports Club ground Eve Leary.
The second match is scheduled for Wednesday at the DCC ground while the final trial is slated for the Police ground on Thursday and those invited from out of Georgetown are asked to be at the Guyana Cricket Board Hostel at 17:00hrs on Monday.
While all of the outstanding players in the just concluded Castro Inter-county have been invited the selectors have also called up players who were not selected for their counties and must be commended for selecting players whom they have seen at the club or school level and feel are talented enough to merit selection.
Many trial squads at various levels picked by selection panels under the past GCB Administration comprised only players who played in the Inter-County tournament and it was even stated, players who were not involved in the county championships were ineligible for national selection.
Since regional under-15 cricket was introduced in 1996, Guyana has never lifted the title and it is hoped that with the home advantage this year, preparation (mental, physical and technical) will not be a reason for Guyana’s lack of success if they fail to win.
The trial squad read:- Veerapen Permaul, Kevin Ramdeen, Shailendra Shameer, Gudakesh Moti Kanhai, Rajendra Dasrat, Bisham Deolall, Karamchan Mohabali, Merron Williams, Dellon Williams, Shawn Perreira, Ricardo Adams, Faizal Karim, Mark Tyrell, Vejai Surajpaul, Ahmad Khan, Herry Greene, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Sunil Rupee, Brian Sattaur, Christopher Surat, Denesh Mangal, Treyon Bobb, Kareem Naughton, Cleyon Critchlow, Shaquille Williams, Poorendra Jaigobin, Kamesh Yardram, Michael Harding, Almando Doman, Linden Austin.
