Plenty of fun, frolic and explosive cricket is promised when the DJ Stress 20/20 Cricket Festival bowls off at the Guyana National Stadium on Labour Day (Friday May 1) as four teams battle for the half of a million dollars winner’s prize in the final which will be played under lights.
The four-team competition has been organized by Television personality Paul Bonar popularly know as DJ Stress and three matches (two Semi-Finals and a Final) will be played in one day. The runner-up will win $300,000 while the losing Semi-Finalists will walk away with $100,000 each.
The first semi-final will start at 11:00hrs, the second semi-final at 14:30hrs and the Final at 19:00hrs. Gates will be opened from 09:00hrs.
Berbice, New Line Cavaliers from Canal Number Two and two other teams, each comprising players from Georgetown, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara, West Coast Demerara and Essequibo, will compete for top honours. Travelers Sound System and 71 Sounds will provide musical entertainment and add to what is anticipated to be a party-like atmosphere for the entire family.
The two sound systems will work together to provide special announcements and pulsating music for the entire stadium via Travelers special Line Array Audio setup which was featured on Mashramani Day.
During every break, cricket fans will be treated to Special Prize drawings based on their ticket stubs. Prizes include Cell phones, MP3 Players and Fossil Sunshades compliments of Gizmos & Gadgets, Watches from Swiss House Cambio, DVDs and a digital camera compliments of Joseph Record Bar, Home Furniture compliments of Oriental General Store, Silver Chains compliments of Doc’s Jewelery and two Trips to Kaieteur Falls compliments of Wonderland Tours.
Cricket fans will be eligible to win Lots of Cash via the highly exciting Cellink Cash Booth and “Hit De Stumps & Win Cash”
Ten vehicles will get free visors compliments of Jai Signs & Tint Shop and accessories compliments of Auto Toy Store. Lots of games will give children the opportunity to win Teddy Bears and other toys. Food and Beverage Bars will be available all day at the Stadium.
DJ Stress is urging the business sector to support this event in a big way and says he will provide a Private VIP Booth free of charge to each Business entity which provides sponsorship for the event. Tickets for the DJ Stress’s 20/20 Cricket Festival will go on sale from Monday 23rd March 23 and Children under 10 years of age will be admitted into the ground free. Tickets cost $1,000 for any stand.
