Beat RHT Pepsi by 6 wickets in final
Scotsburg Cricket Club of Corriverton defeated a depleted Rose Hall Town Pepsi (RHTP) side by 6 wickets on Friday last at the Area ‘H’ Ground to win the Gilgeous Pawn Shop 10th anniversary twenty20 tournament. The win was Sctosburg’s first tournament victory in their four year history.

Taking first strike on a pitch with lots of preparation moisture, RHTP, playing without four of their senior players due to under-15 Inter County duties, were restricted to 79-9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Only Ganesh Narinedat 20, Simon Lawson 15 and Terrence Madramootoo 14 reached double figures. Off spinner Alex Amsterdam 4-8 off 3 overs, Akram Razack 3-19 and Mark Lionel 2-15 were the main wicket takers for Scotsburg who replied with 80-4 off 15.3 overs.
Lionel returned with the bat to stroke an attractive unbeaten 37, national under-19 wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble backed up with 20. Bowling for RHTP left arm spinner Naresh Mahadeo took 2-13.
Lionel was named man-of-the-finals and also copped the best batsman award while Alex Amsterdam took home the best bowler prize.
Scotsburg received the beautiful championship trophy and $40,000 in sport gear while the runner up received $30,000 worth of gear and trophy.
Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Hilbert Foster declared the tournament a resounding success which brought new talent to the fore. A total of 12 teams competed in the tournament. S
Foster congratulated the champions while challenging them to build on this their first tournament success.
Gratitude was extended Mr. Orin Battice of Gilgeous Pawn Shop for sponsoring the tournament. Battice in brief remarks noted that Berbicians have been very supportive of his business and the sponsorship was his way of giving back.
He expressed his pleasure at the successful hosting of the tournament while pledging his future sponsorship of tournament with the RHTY&SC.
The Gilgeous Pawn Shop tournament was the first of ten that would be organised by the RHTY&SC for 2009.
