Police have detained a teenaged boy in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Terrence Plummer, the North Sophia man who was shot in the head in front of a Sheriff Street restaurant.
An official said that the youth, who is reportedly from Sophia, was taken into custody yesterday after detectives received information that seemed to implicate him in the killing.
Investigators appear to be working on the theory that the suspect is from a gang that has carried out a series of recent robberies in Georgetown.
Plummer and two other men were drinking in front of the Imperial Chinese Restaurant on Sheriff Street on February 15 when two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, approached them.
The armed man reportedly then shot Plummer in the head at close range. After the wounded man collapsed, the bandit took away the victim’s jewellery and a wallet.
The other bandit took away a cell phone from one of Plummer’s friends and fled with his accomplice. Plummer was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation in an unconscious condition.
He succumbed on February 21 without regaining consciousness.
