Quick response by the police on Thursday night led to the arrest of two men who had robbed a University of Guyana student in the compound at Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara.
Investigations revealed that about 20:00hours the female student was walking towards the back gate to the compound when she was confronted by the two men, who cuffed her about the body and took away a bag containing local and foreign currency, a cell phone and two airline tickets before escaping.
The police responded and, based on the men’s description and other information, managed to apprehend them shortly after. The stolen currency was recovered.
The men are in police custody and will be charged shortly.
