Mexican Ambassador to Guyana, Fernando Sandoval, says that he is going to promote the coming of Mexican investors to Guyana.
He also said that he hopes to establish bilateral trade agreements between the two countries and impart the experience of tourism in Mexico to Guyanese.
During an interview with this newspaper, Sandoval, the first permanent Mexican Ambassador to Guyana, and also a representative of Mexico to CARICOM, said that he intends to look for various business areas and opportunities to explore.
According to Ambassador Sandoval, Guyana is a very interesting country with many natural resources.
“We are going to try to promote the coming of Mexican investors to Guyana… Mexico has very important industrial production, consumption production, and perhaps we can make it so that some of the products that Guyana buys from other countries can come from Mexico.”
As it relates to tourism, the Ambassador said that he believes that this sector has tremendous potential, especially in the areas of eco-tourism.
“Mexico has developed tourism. We have experience, and I think we can help the Guyanese people with our experience… I think there is potential in Guyana to develop eco-tourism, and perhaps we can make some people from the Ministry of Tourism in Mexico come to share their experience in Guyana.”
Ambassador Sandoval noted that he is very pleased to be in Guyana.
According to him, Guyana is a country with interesting leadership in international affairs and promotes important issues in international relations.
“Guyana is a strategic country and we want to be present… I am going to start trying to know the country and to make Mexicans know Guyana.
I want Mexicans to come to Guyana, entrepreneurship come to Guyana, the academics to come to Guyana, the Mexican politics come to Guyana.”
