Dear Editor,
I read with great interest that the Government of Guyana intends to subject some members of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) to the polygraph test as part of a process of purging the agency of corrupt officials.
In principle I have no objections to such course of action, since it is my fervent belief corruption is robbing our society of much-needed resources, and every effort must be made to eradicate it from all of our institutions.
Such an eradication exercise must not be seen as one targeting specific individuals, but a genuine attempt at solving the problem
Therefore, in this case in point, if the Government is serious about stamping out corruption at the GRA, conduct a comprehensive exercise. Subject every one in the sector to the test, starting from the Chairman of the Board of Directors to the charwoman.
By doing this you will not be accused of witch-hunting as well as you will be leaving no one out of your dragnet.
