The Neal and Massy Group of Companies in Guyana has hired new staff despite the global financial crisis.
Chief Executive Officer of the Neal and Massy Group of Companies, Mr. Deo Persaud, said the local conglomerate expects new challenges during the current world financial crisis but expressed confidence that the Group will be able to overcome those challenges.
“People would think that we are crazy to be employing new staff at this time but while we expect challenges there will also be opportunities, so our Group will be looking to capitalise on those areas of opportunities,” he said at the Induction Ceremony for 42 new employees.
Persaud said that the Group survived a similar situation back in the late seventies and eighties. Adjustments will be made at this time to cope with the current financial meltdown facing governments and businesses around the world, he said. He said in the 80s during a downturn in the local economy, when it was extremely difficult to secure foreign currency, the Group took the measures and improvised in some cases to stay afloat.
Mr. Persaud noted that some areas of the Group are already feeling the effects and they are making the necessary adjustments.
The Neal and Massy Group has been doing business in Guyana for the past 40 years.
