Berbice registered a comfortable eight wicket victory over Essequibo when play in the Castrol Inter County U 15 50 overs cricket competition continued yesterday at the Anna Regina Centre ground on the Essequibo Coast.
Winning the toss and electing to take first turn at the crease, the home team Essequibo found themselves in early trouble and never recovered to be all out for 61 in 35.1 overs.
Skipper Ricardo Adams (9) and Mark Gonsalves (9) were their leading run getters with extras contributing a healthy 23.
Gudakesh Moti was the pick of the visitors bowlers with 3-10, Ravindra Dasrat 3-12 and Bisham Deolall 3-18 also bowling well. The Berbicians in reply cruised to 62-2 off 26.2 overs.
Jamal Henry and Kevin Ramdeen were their joint top scorers with 18 each while man-of-the-match Ravindra Dasrat contributed 14.
Mark Tyrell and Vijay Surujpaul were the wicket takers for the Essequibians.
Berbice, with a win and a loss from two games will now travel to Demerara to face the host in the final two matches of the competition at the National Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. (Zaheer Mohamed)
