Scotsburg Cricket Club of Corriverton hammered Rose Hall Canje by 60 runs in the lone semi-final of the Gilgeous Pawn Shop under-19 twenty20 cricket competition and will face Rose Hall Pepsi ‘A’ in the final.
In a low scoring match, Scotsburg won the toss and decided to take first strike on a flat pitch. Anthony Bramble top scored with 42 which contained six fours and two sixes in guiding Scotsburg to 142-9 off their allotted overs.
Marvin Harvey supported well with 21 while Herschelle Gilean took 4-22, Kevin Ramdeen 3-34 and Udesh Imrit 2-18 for Rose Hall Canje who were sent crashing for 82 off the final ball of their innings.
Stifling bowling backed up by excellent fielding did the trick for Scotsburg. Dinesh Gopaul was the leading scorer with 20, Videsh Singh chipped in with 16. The damage with the ball was done by Naim Yacoob, 4-9 and Alex Amsterdam 3-18. The final between Scotsburg and RHT Pepsi ‘A’ is set for next Wednesday at the Area ‘H’ ground.
The winner will receive the Gilgeous trophy and $300,000 in sports equipment while the runner-up will receive $20,000 in equipment.
