The Scotia Banks Kiddies cricket competition continued over the weekend at the Police Sports Club ground Eve Leary with matches between North and East Georgetown Primary Schools.
Winfer Gardens, St. Agnes, Sophia Primary, North Georgetown and Bel Air Primary will play with the winners from the groups in South Georgetown.
One School shall emerge winner for the Georgetown District and will advance to the Kiddies Cricket Presentation during the Lunch Break of the second West Indies versus England One Day International at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence on March 22
Group 1
In a very entertaining match, Marian Academy batting first made 118 runs, while F.E Pollard Primary replied with 118 runs, equalling the score set by Marian Academy. As a consequence, F.E Pollard emerge winners after a “Sudden Death” exercise was required due to a tie of 3 strikes apiece in the previously required “Bowl Off” due to the draw.
In another match, North Georgetown scored 140 runs, while Marian Academy only managed to make 91 runs. North Georgetown won by 49 runs.
In North Georgetown’s second match, North Georgetown Primary beat F.E pollard by 67 runs. Scores in the match, North Georgetown Primary made 171 runs and F.E Pollard Primary 104 runs.
North Georgetown Primary advance to the next round.
Group 2
Winfer Gardens beat Rama Krishna by 9 runs. Scores in the match, Winfer gardens Primary 119 runs and Rama Krishna 110 runs.
Comenius Primary beat Rama Krishna by 56 runs. Scores in the match, Comenius Primary 134 runs and Rama Krishna Primary in reply made 78 runs.
Winfer Gardens beat Comenius Primary by 99 runs. Scores in the match, Winfer Gardens Primary 186 runs, Comenius Primary 87 runs.
Winfer Gardens advance to the next round.
Group 3
Bel Air Primary defeated St. Gabriel’s Primary by 96 runs. Batting first Bel Air Primary made 212 runs, while St. Gabriel’s in reply made 116 runs.
In another match, Bel Air Primary beat School of the Nations by 38 runs. Scores in the match, Bel Air Primary 156 runs, School of the Nations 118 runs.
Bel Air primary advance to the next round.
Group 4
St. Agnes Primary beat J.E Burnham by 67 runs. Batting first St. Agnes made 159 runs, while J.E Burnham made 92 runs.
J.E Burnham beat St. Angela’s Primary by 39 runs. Scores in the match, J.E Burnham 165 runs and St. Angela’s Primary in reply made 126 runs.
St. Agnes defeated St. Angela’s by 43 runs. Batting first St. Agnes made 168 runs, while St. Angela’s Primary replied with 125 runs.
St. Agnes advance to the next round.
Group 5
Sophia Primary batting first made 129 runs, while St. Ambrose Primary in reply made 101. Sophia Primary won by 28 runs.
In a return feature match, St. Ambrose beat Sophia Primary by 3 runs. Batting first St. Ambrose made 96 runs, while in reply Sophia Primary made 93 runs.
As a result of one win a piece, St. Ambrose Primary and Sophia Primary were required to enter into a “Bowl Off.” Sophia Primary emerge winners of the play off with scores of 2 strikes to zero in favour of Sophia Primary.
Sophia Primary advance to the next round.
