Dear Editor,
After reading the statement by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, my confidence has been confirmed that the interests of Guyanese are being properly and vigilantly monitored and safeguarded by the Government in the global financial meltdown and economic turmoil.
It is clear from Ms. van Beek’s statement that the appropriate actions were being taken long before now in the correct way to avoid unnecessary alarm and harm to the situation as regards CLICO Guyana.
His Excellency President Jagdeo had already assured that the interests of all policyholders in CLICO would be protected.
We must not upset the efficient execution of the processes under the Insurance Act and mandated by the Court.
Let us remain immune from the irresponsible and mischievous comments and propaganda of some, who are not really interested in the welfare of policyholders and the staff of CLICO and others, but are seeking to pursue personal and political agendas inimical to the interests of Guyanese, for selfish reasons.
The President has also given the assurance that the interests of persons under the National Insurance Scheme will be protected.
