A woman was shocked to see that the car she left outside the premises of the Aracari Resort was gone when she returned at the end of the show. The car is a burgundy AT192 Toyota Carina PJJ372.
On Friday last at around 22:00 hours at the Aracari Resort, West Bank Demerara, owner of ‘Reshma’s Collections’, Reshma Pluchan, of 115 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, along with her husband and sister-in-law, went to a chutney show that was being held at the resort.
According to the distraught woman, some two hours later when she was about to leave she realised that her car had been stolen. She said that she reported it to the security guard that was on duty that night at the resort.
She added that his response to her was that it wasn’t his concern since he works mainly in the hut.
“I had my car keys on me at the time and turned and told my sister-in-law that someone stole the car. She asked, ‘Are you sure?” I then showed her the keys.”
“The guard who was giving me a hard time ended up saying that his boss said that it was “Akbar” who came and took away the vehicle which I said was stolen. I was mad he said that, since the car belonged to me. I bought the car some time back; I had it for six years now. We then went inside the resort, and I asked the DJ if he can say the message aloud that my car was missing so that anyone can help locate it.”
She said that the man turned the music up even louder.
“I was so frustrated that I pulled at the buttons on the instrument he was playing.”
Pluchan went on to say that the DJ turned the music to a much higher volume, and shouted that she should get out.
She added that she called the police and reported what happened. “They came, and a female officer told her she should wait to report the matter to the station after 72 hours.”
In a quest to find her car, Pluchan called the Leonora Police Station and told them what the female officer told her.
She was then told to go and report the matter as soon as possible.
“When we went to the station, we saw that the station was locked with padlocks.”
The woman is at her wits’ end and frustrated that the people who should help are not. She contends that the resort is not as protected as advertised on the television.
