Police are investigating the theft of a large quantity of gold from a mining camp at Mousie Creek, Konawaruk, Region Eight.
Reports are that the owner of the dredge was in the city when one of the employees, Orin Hopkinson called ‘Fat Head’, told his colleagues that the boss had sent for the week’s production.
According to reports, the man emptied a canister with over $700,000 worth of gold and left to visit the Mahdia Hospital before proceeding to the city.
Not knowing what had transpired, the boss travelled to the interior two days later, only to learn that the Bartica resident had robbed him and the other employees.
The matter was reported to the police and investigations are continuing.
