Seven races are carded for the day when the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club opens their 2009 horseracing season at the Club’s Bush Lot Farm Corentyne headquarters on Phagwah day, Saturday March 15. The cream of the country’s horses will match strides in what is expected to be a keenly contested event.
The feature attraction will be contested between horses classified in the ‘B’ Class over a distance of 7 furlongs. Over $700,000 in prize money will be at stake in that race with the winning jockey in the feature attraction carting off a first prize of $375,000 and the Eldorado trophy compliments of sponsors, DDL who will be marketing their Eldorado products.
Among the horses expected to provide top class entertainment are Sequin, Little Panie, Isle Be True, Miss Republic, Coconut Boy, Sweet Romance, The Gap, Pixie Fire, Alphabet and Getting Something.
Horse owners are reminded that entries close one week before the meet, on Saturday 7th. The organizers wish to emphasize that no late entry will be accepted.
They would also like to remind persons attending the meet that the recent construction of the Berbice Bridge has made the journey traveling west to east less cumbersome. Horses can be registered with the Secretary of the club, Nikita Ross at tel# 662-4668 or 325-3230. Registration may also be done through tel # 325-3192 (Roopnarine Matadial) or 225-4818 (Justice Kennard).
