As management of Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) continues to address the problems within the company, the administration must now deal with people stealing sugar.
Kaieteur News has learnt that one person is in custody following the theft of an undisclosed amount of sugar from a ship at the Demerara Sugar Terminal wharf.
This newspaper learnt that a sugar vessel was moored at the wharf when a security discovered the thief near the ship.
Gunshots rang out and one of the thieves, who turned out to be an employee aboard the ship, was apprehended.
The thief’s accomplices escaped in a boat.
