The police were yesterday forced to release three young men who were held on Tuesday pending carnal knowledge charges after the alleged victim, a 13-year-old girl, failed to turn up to provide the police with the necessary information.
This newspaper understands that the police found the girl, a student of the Richard Ishmael Secondary School, in a West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme house at around 10:00hrs on Tuesday with one of the young men who was taken into custody.
The other two were found in the yard.
The girl, who was in her school uniform at the time, was taken to the hospital for a medical examination which showed that she was sexually involved.
The police contacted the girl’s mother and preliminary investigations were conducted. Her mother was told to take the girl back to the police station the following day which she failed to do.
Seventy-two hours expired and the trio was released on bail.
