Charles Ramson during his swearing in ceremony as Justice of Appeal taking the oath of office before President Bharrat Jagdeo
Justice of Appeal, Charles Ramson Sr. could be the new Attorney General.
During a press conference yesterday, President Bharrat Jagdeo stated that he will announce the name of the person who will take up the position shortly.
Last evening, a source close to the Office of the President said that Ramson is the leading pick since Speaker Ralph Ramkarran was not asked and since Canada-based Kaisree Chatarpaul who acknowledged to talking with the people in the administration claimed that no one mentioned anything further with him.
Ramson had served as Attorney General before but returned to private practice prior to his appointment as Justice of Appeal.
Ramson, a Senior Counsel, could be replacing Senior Counsel Doodnauth Singh, who vacated office at the end of January after serving the profession for over 55 years.
Singh submitted his resignation in December last.
