Police on the East Coast of Demerara have launched a manhunt for a Friendship farmer who allegedly fondled his tenant’s nine-year-old daughter.
Police went to the man’s home yesterday but the 51-year-old suspect had already disappeared.
According to reports, on Tuesday night the child was on her verandah when the suspect called her over to his apartment. There he reportedly indecently assaulted the child who initially withheld telling her parents about the incident.
However, she showed some kind of discomfort at school and was questioned by her teachers who subsequently summoned her parents.
When the name of the perpetrator was disclosed several villagers expressed disgust at the actions of the ‘big man’ and are cooperating with the police to apprehend him.
