Commenting briefly on his charges performance, Coach Mervin ‘Pug’ Wilson said there is a lot of work left to be done to bring the team to the desired level physically and tactically for this competition.
“However, I liked the understanding they showed during the game which of course was the first for them after a long layoff due to the holidays after the end of the Premier League season. But I thought they looked fairly well.”
Conquerors’ goalkeeper Oswald Cornette was given marching orders by the referee for dangerous foul committed against utility player Quincy Madramootoo who had to be taken to the hospital for a precautionary check.
Club PRO Steve Ninvalle disclosed that Madramootoo was injured in his groin and was recovering well.
The players recommenced work at Buddies Gym yesterday morning and afternoon and according to Wilson some attend in the morning and others in the afternoon.
More practice games are planned and Club President Odinga Lumumba informed that the team will soon be encamped as they seek to intensify preparations in search of victory against Haitian club side Tempete FC in their first round match-up set for March 18 in Haiti with the second leg scheduled for March 25 in Guyana.
