‘Golden Jaguar’ Gregory Richardson arrived in Miami yesterday ahead of his one week Major League Soccer try out with MLS side, Toronto F.C.
Richardson was met and welcomed by President of the Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) Colin Baker and Executive Member Garth Nelson.
While in Florida, Richardson who is aiming to become the first Guyanese to ever win an MLS contract will be hosted by Baker and Victor Wright, also of the GSDA. Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday, Baker disclosed that the GSDF will be going all out to ensure that Richardson is successful in his bid to play in the MLS. “We will leave no stones unturned in this quest to see this player become the first Guyanese to play in the MLS. Leading up to the trails, he will be training along with fellow Golden Jaguar Brion Baker and will also be working along with Bill Adams, a Director of the GSDF and owner of the Bill Adams Tennis Academy.”
Richardson will receive specialized fitness training from former United States Olympic Hurdler Tony Dees who is currently working with the LA Fitness Gym.
Richardson will be on trials from February 7 – 14.
