Dear Editor,
History was indeed created in the USA with its first cosmopolitan/black President and if my memory serves me correctly, I believe that the administration was appointed/elected by voters or The American People.
I just couldn’t understand how it became “God’s appointment” by Roshan Khan’s commentary “World having it’s breath on hold for President Obama’s inauguration” and “President Obama’s inauguration an epoch making moment” as appeared in the Guyana Chronicle dated January 21, 2009. I wonder if this contributor during this lifetime will ever say “God Bless Guyana Indeed”.
Is it not fair to say that it is man’s duties that answer the care and needs of humanity? Please don’t get me wrong, but I do believe in a supreme being and I also believe that intense studies and sacrifices are what leadership skills, inventions, creativeness etc. are achieved from.
The world in pain wasn’t only caused by those that led America for the past 50 years. The present wars in Iraq and Afghanistan might have been led by the former administration of the US, but it was also well supported by a host of other nations. Isn’t this a fact?
Are they not also responsible for some of the world’s pain? No disrespect to Roshan Khan, but please remember a few Guyanese nationals who have over the years dedicated their lives to Guyana with their contributions, namely Mrs. Carmen Jarvis; former First Lady, Varshnie Singh-Jagdeo; Mr. Freddie Kissoon; and the long serving health workers still around, etc.
