The Rotaract Club of Linden along with the Linden Amateur Basketball Association and Pioneer Construction Company will stage a fundraising basketball game and futsal clash at Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) tonight.
The fundraising event, in aid of heart surgery for Mark Beckles in India, will begin at 7pm and will see Retrieve Raiders play Patriots in the basketball game, while Georgetown bus drivers and touts battles their Wisrock colleagues.
A release from the Rotaract Club stated that all proceeds will go toward offsetting airfare and other expenses related to Beckles’ surgery. In addition, it was stated that donation sheets will be circulated for further contributions.
“The public is hereby invited to support this worthy cause,” the release said, adding that the games are expected to be “exciting”. Patriots are currently third in the Linden League while Raiders are seventh in the point standings.
The point standings show that Pistons and Jets will go into round two as joint leaders on 11 points apiece, while Pistons are in second with eight points and Patriots third on seven points after round one of the League.
New Ballers and Glands Trucking Service Bulls with six points each and Raiders on five points occupy the other positions on the standing.
A win gives either of the team two points while a loss is worth one point.
The LABA/Pioneer Construction senior club championship will conclude the first of two rounds on Sunday when New Ballers and Glands Trucking Service Bulls meet in the first game while Raiders play Royals in game two.
