Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited and the Berbice Football Association hosted a grand presentation ceremony on Sunday last which incorporated into the company’s Shareholders Annual General Meeting at their Berbice Branch, New Amsterdam.
Prizes were handed over for the BFA / Coca Cola Senior League and Knockout tournaments.
New Amsterdam United took home the first place trophy and cash prize ($80,000) for winning the League. Cougars took 2nd ($60,000), Real Union 3rd ($40,000) and dethroned champions Monedderlust, 4th ($20,000).
Dirk Henry of the champions was adjudged the best goalkeeper with teammate Kelvin Joseph named the most valuable player. Cougars’ Winston Benjamin was the highest goal scorer.
Cougars took the top spot in the knockout tournament and pocketed $80,000 and the champion’s trophy. Real Union, Rosignol United and Mahaicony took the 2nd to 4th placed positions in that order and received $60,000, $40,000 and $20,000 in cash along with trophies.
Cougars swept the individual prizes; the award for best goalkeeper going to Ryan Kellowan, Benjamin was again the player taking the prize for the highest goal scorer while Horace Roache was declared the most valuable player.
Among the Executives attending the presentation were Managing Director Clifford Reis who delivered the feature address, Marketing Director George Mc Donald, Sales Executive Carlton Joao and Branch Manager, Reginald Matthews.
Meanwhile, the Berbice leg of the Nationwide Guinness ‘Greatest of the Berbice Street’ football is set to kick off in March and is sponsored by Banks DIH Limited.
Matches will be played from Mahaicony to Blairmont on the West Coast of Berbice and from New Amsterdam to Corriverton.

Some $400,000 in prizes will be up for grabs.
