Tourney now set to start on Feb 20
The Organisers of the annual Mayor’s Cup 16-team invitational knockout tournament scheduled to commence today has been forced postpone the event due to the current weather pattern.
The adverse weather has forced the postponement of the tournament since the persistent rain in the city has affected the preparation of the Tucville ground and the preparation of the teams involved.
Weather permitting the competition will now kick off on Friday February 20 with two first round matches. Top XX will match skills with GFC from 18:00hrs and Western Tigers were set to play Mile Rock from 20:00hrs.
Alpha United battle Uitvlugt from 18:00hrs and Campton oppose Pouderoyen at 20:00hrs in matches set for Sunday February 22.
Buxton come up against Uprising from 16:00hrs and Conquerors come up against Golden Grove at 20:00hrs on Friday February 27 in the other games to be played next month.
All matches in the competition will be played at the Tucville ground.
