Mohan Ramsaroop, who allegedly stabbed his reputed wife after an argument, was placed on $40,000 bail, yesterday, by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty, under the condition that he keeps his distance from his reputed wife.
Ramsaroop had appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of unlawful wounding. He was, however, not required to plead to the indictable charge.
According to a police report, Ramsaroop, who owns a liquor restaurant, was involved in a heated argument with his reputed wife, Pamela Albert, on January 16, at Columbia.
Albert, who was also charged, was placed on $5,000 bail for assault.
In her explanation to the court, Albert told the magistrate that during the argument she was stabbed numerous times by her reputed husband and in her defence she dealt Ramsaroop a lash to his head with a piece of wood.
Albert sustained stabs to her right arm while Mohan sustained a wound to his forehead.
Both parties share four children together. They will make another court appearance on March 17.
