The Guyanese trio of Demerara all-rounder Kelon Carmichael, Toralva Scipio and Jamal Hinckson turned out good performances in losing efforts for their Trinidad club Sweet Revenge in the Sunday Carib 50-overs cricket competition in Trinidad and Tobago.
In the opening match of the tournament last week Sunday, Carmichael, who represented Guyana in the 2007 regional under-19 series in St Kitts, grabbed 3-35 from 10 tidy overs of medium pace on a slow track as Merry Boys reached 215-7 off 48 overs in overcast conditions.
Sweet Revenge in reply could only reach 127-6 off 38.5 overs as they lost the rain affected game on the Duckworth/Lewis system.
Sweet Revenge lost their second match in the competition last Sunday despite a Man-of-the-Match performance from former Guyana under-15 off-spinner Scipio as they went down to Monroe Road by one wicket in a keenly contested affair.
DCC Captain Jamal Hinckson was left stranded five short of his half-century while his DCC team-mate Scipio supported with 30 as Sweet Revenge were bowled out for 120.
Monroe Road reached 121-9 in reply with Carmichael taking 4-18 and Scipio 2-20, both from 10 overs.
The competition continues this Sunday and Carmichael, Scipio and Hinckson are among a large number of Guyanese playing at various levels in the well structured Trinidad and Tobago Professional and semi-professional leagues. (Sean Devers)
