Dear Editor,
The Kid’s First Fund which the former First Lady Varshnie Singh-Jagdeo has a tremendous commitment towards, along with its personnel, is one of such that we have witnessed to date that many children benefited from for a much more healthy life.
The least we can extend to her is “Thank You” and a decent send off will be the appropriate manner to deal with this situation.
I managed to have a close up glance of her only once in 2008 and she struck me as a very simple human being that anyone can ever meet during their journey, and one word I would choose for her is “uniqueness”.
Of course, the forum is open for others to share their opinions.
She also didn’t strike me as the gold digger character who expects a golden plaque for her charitable work; I hope that she doesn’t prove otherwise.
Looking at the picture from the pavement, her stint in Guyana is definitely just a matter of a short time remaining and if the organisation remains afloat, I hope others will continue with the same level of commitment for the children who need medical attention overseas.
It will indeed be a challenge, but let’s not disappoint those urgent cases.
Whatever decision/s are made by the former First Lady, I honestly wish her well with her endeavours and should she choose to return to the UK permanently and continue in that same line of charitable work, she will indeed be an asset to that country.
UNICEF would just be an ideal agency to collaborate with for their extreme humanitarian work done in devastated regions.
Donor companies and individuals who have extended their support over the years must be credited for their humanitarian initiatives and be proud of themselves. Please don’t feel guilty by not having the courage to publicly express your sentiments via the newsprints towards the former First Lady for I can at least understand some of the pressure you might be subjected to afterwards.
