Final ends in dispute
Queenstown Jamaat won the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) one-day seven-a-side 6-overs tapeball cricket competition played Sunday last at the National Park Tarmac, eleven Jamaats competing.
According to the organisers, the competition was put together to keep players active since the prolonged rainy season prohibits the cutting of the MYO ground, Woolford Avenue.
Queenstown who drew the bye to the final took first strike after winning the toss against Grove ‘A’ who booked their place by hammering Kitty in the lone semi-final game.
Queenstown were off to a bad start losing their 1st wicket with just 2 runs on the board. But a revival by Imran Ally and Javed Kayume saw the score accelerating to 50 after the 4th over.
By this time, fading light was beginning to threaten. A disputed catch ended the game prematurely and Grove ‘A’ decided to settle for the runner up spot.
The other Jamaats who participated were LBI, Windsor Forest, Enmore, Sisters Village, Peters Hall, Farm, Grove ‘B’ and Enterprise.
