Dear Editor,
It is shocking to read in the Kaieteur News, dated January 25, an article captioned, “Canadian visa scam…More victims surface.”
It leaves one to think that someone lied to Immigration Authorities in Canada in order for their 15-year-old client to be granted refugee status.
The claim made is very serious, about three men who brutally raped the child and threatened her and her family.
The person even went on further to claim that these three men who committed this serious act on this child are well connected in high places.
I hope the legal authorities, both in Canada and Guyana, are taking this matter seriously, as these allegations now have surfaced.
I hope the people here in Canada and in Guyana, who were allegedly conned, come forward without fear or favour to put this issue to rest.
I urge that they go to the authorities, and urge Government to look into this matter seriously, for the sake of those who were allegedly conned out of their monies.
T. King
