Suspect’s fingerprints found in murdered pensioner’s home

Fingerprints found in the home of the late Hector Marshall appear to link a prime suspect to the murder of that South Ruimveldt pensioner. Kaieteur News understands that the fingerprints match those of a man who has been in police custody since Thursday. Charges appear likely shortly.

The same suspect was charged, but eventually freed, for the January 2004 murder of SIMAP Executive Secretary Lennox Stewart, who was found dead, with his throat slashed, in his Duncan Street home.

The suspect was arrested last Thursday in the wake of reports that he was seen in Marshall’s home.

Marshall, of Powis Close, South Ruimveldt Park, was found dead, last week Monday, with his hands tied behind his back and his mouth gagged.

An autopsy revealed that he had been manually strangled.

Neighbours had speculated that Marshall, a former Personnel Officer of the Ministries of Information and Foreign Affairs, was slain after he had spoken about collecting a substantial amount of money from the National Insurance Scheme (NIS).
