Oscar McCurdy, 44, of Half Mile Wismar, Linden, on Friday appeared before the acting Chief Magistrate to face the charge of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Horace McCurdy, causing grevious bodily harm.
The wounding allegedly took place two days earlier, on Wednesday, at Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.
Noting that the two shared the same last name, the Magistrate asked the accused if he was related to the complainant, and he answered that he was not aware.
The accused then pleaded guilty and told the magistrate that he cuts grass for a living.
He said, “When God coming, He coming for all of us. Your Worship, I just want to relax my nerves.”
He added that he wanted a special cell in prison.
Magistrate Robertson, considering the state of mind of the accused, said that his matter will have to go to trial, and ordered that he be exposed to psychiatric treatment. She entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.
“I have no problem with that,” the accused said.
The defendant’s matter was transferred to the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court for his next appearance, on January 28, 2009.
