ROSE HALL TOWN, CORENTYNE — Last week, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club launched its Community Development programme for 2009.
The first activity was a donation of sanitation equipment to the Port Mourant Primary School.
The club handed over a few pairs of safety gloves, long boots, hygiene kits and other equipment to the school to aid in preserving the aesthetics of the institution.
Chief Executive Officer of the club, Hilbert Foster, posited that the club is striving to ensure not only that the children are kept in a healthy environment, but one that can encourage them to up their levels of performance.
He pointed out that this year would be a challenging one for his organization, given the present economic situation.
Teacher at the Port Mourant Primary School, Sydney Cort, in accepting the contribution, said that the institution is appreciative of the assistance.
He expressed words of gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club for its quick response to the request for help made by the school.
The club’s Community Development Programme this year would focus primarily on the restoration of the Area “H” Ground, where it is based.
Work would be done on the fence, which he said is falling apart, boundary boards, out field and other sections of the compound.
Later on, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club is also to assist two other schools to construct bicycle sheds, and plans are on the way to build a small bridge at a chosen point in Rose Hall Town.
