Dear Editor,
PNCR live broadcast motion on parliamentary sittings defeated ‘…it would cost (the Guyana government) about $600M to fund a parliamentary channel to carry live broadcast of the sittings of the National Assembly’ – Gail Teixeira
Having read this in the Guyana Chronicle I must say this:
If the PNCR and AFC want parliament to be broadcast live then it must be a very simple case.
If the cost is $600M then those two parties pay $200M each and Government pay $200M.
If another opposition is there and is calling for it too then divide the amount by the number of opposition parties there are.
Or if that cannot work for the opposition, then they must go on their knees and beg those free media who are strong advocates for them, just how AFC is busy installing flush toilets at schools.
AFC, PNCR and all opposition parties must run cable and give every citizen a television set to ensure all see the parliamentary broadcast.
Then and only then it will be fair for all Guyanese to see and not just one sector of society.
Channel Six and SN could very well give free broadcast instead of taking pictures of pot holes on roads.
Instead of SN reporting that two women had a shoving and pulling match and end up in court; instead of showing a shop built in the middle of the trench creating floods; they could very well install cables and give every citizen a TV set.
Come on opposition political parties, SN, Channel Six and the rest of you, show the people you are big, bold and brave enough to do this for your people.
If you can’t do this for your people then do not cry.
T. King
