Drug addict held for raping 54-year-old aunt

Police at Mahaicony detained a 27-year-old labourer hours after he allegedly raped his 54-year-old aunt while holding a knife to her throat.

The incident occurred on Friday night, minutes after the suspect failed in his attempt to rape his sister-in-law.

According to reports, the 54-year-old housewife was alone at her Mahaicony Creek home when, at about 21:45 hours, she heard someone paddling a canoe towards her residence. Upon checking, she saw the suspect, who was armed with a cutlass.

He forced her into the house and demanded sex, which the woman refused. But the man threatened to kill her, and, holding the cutlass to her throat, had sex with her against her will.

The matter was reported to the police, and the man was detained. The police later learnt that the man, who is said to be a drug addict, had held down his sister-in-law with the same intention, earlier that day.

He even tried to drown her when she refused his advances. It was the woman’s screams that alerted neighbours who went to her assistance.
