Dear Editor,
I must echo the sentiments of Mr. Munesh Singh in his letter to the editor captioned: “Is this the way the Guyana Police Force treats its retired members?”
I must say that I have known Rudy Levans for the last 30 years, and even though we have not communicated much in the last 15 years, I can personally attest to all the qualities that Mr. Singh mentioned and even much more.
If it’s true that this is the way the Guyana Police Force treats its members then this might be one of the many reasons that the Force is not attracting more capable and brilliant individuals to serve and protect.
The Commissioner of Police and/or Minister of Home Affairs should see to it that all officers of the police force be recognised for their sterling performance and service after retirement. People just like to know that they will be missed, after spending 30 years on the same job. I don’t think that this is too much to ask.
