President Bharrat Jagdeo has discussed increased cooperation and other issues with Libyan leader Muammar Qadaffi.
The two reviewed cooperation between Latin America and the African Union, and also discussed international issues of common interest, particularly political and economic relations, when they met on Sunday, according to the Africa Press Agency.
During their meeting, in Tripoli, Jagdeo expressed his wish for the success of the next Africa-South America Summit, due to be held next April in Caracas, Venezuela.
The Libyan Jamahiriya Broadcasting Corporation said Jagdeo and Qadaffi discussed the promotion of a cooperative relationship between the two unions of Africa and Latin America, as well as international issues of common concern, especially to political and economic development.
During the meeting, Jagdeo expressed sincere appreciation for the consolidation of relations of cooperation between the African and Latin spaces.
The meeting and the banquet were attended by the Secretary of the General People’s Committee, Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Industry and Minerals, the Secretary for European Affairs and the Arab at the General People’s Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation.
The delegation accompanying President Jagdeo included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkette, and Minister of Tourism, Manniram Prashad.
