Persons who are applying for the new machine readable passports will now have to wait a shorter period for the new document.
Commissioner of Police and Chief Immigration Officer, Henry Greene, after an assessment of the current machine readable passport operations, announced that the waiting period for new applications for the ordinary machine readable passport would be reduced from 14 days to seven days with effect from Thursday, January 15, 2009.
