Maxey Edmund, 27, of Philippi Village, Region Seven, was last Tuesday bitten by a snake. He died after a harrowing trek through the forest to seek medical attention.
The snake bit Edmund on his left calf, leaving him in grave danger. The stricken man walked all the way from Philippi Village to the Annai Health Centre, some 40 miles for treatment.
His condition deteriorated by the time he reached hospital, forcing the health centre to transport him for additional treatment in Georgetown, where he was admitted to the ICU ward at the hospital.
Late yesterday afternoon, at around 4:00 pm, the young man lost the battle to live.
