– steal $2M in cash, jewelry
In a daring robbery on Tuesday night, five armed men carted off a quantity of jewelry and cash totalling $2 million from a household at Fyrish, Corentyne.
At approximately 23:00 hours, five armed men attacked and robbed overseas-based Guyanese, Gogeeda Poonai, and her son and a nephew just after a religious function that was held by Poonai.
The woman told the police that some of the men were armed with handguns while others had cutlasses.
When the religious function ended, the five armed men entered the premises and held the victims at gunpoint. The bandits made the persons to lie on the ground, as they relieved them of the valuables and made their escape.
