Dear Editor,
Danger lies at the Cornelia Ida river koker, on the West Coast of Demerara. About 20 feet on the western side of this koker has been undermined. A layer of dirt on the dam is holding things in place, in the meanwhile.
A close inspection of the dam has revealed that the dam has sunk about two feet.
As the ocean waves continue to pound the koker structure, the erosion continues at a rapid pace.
This is a big disaster waiting to happen. I am asking the relevant authorities to mobilize emergency repairs immediately, before it’s too late.
