Community Policing Groups on the East Bank of Demerara will be better able to patrol their communities after receiving two motorcycles, ten bikes and flashlights from three business entities.
Chairman of the Diamond Community Policing Group, Philip Ishmael (centre), flanked by Kuru Kuru Community Policing Chairman Rupert Jones (left) and Yarrowkabra Community Policing group Chairman Ovid Austin, poses with some of the bikes.
The donations, which were made by Automotive Products (Jialing), Chinese trading and Golden bridge Inc., were handed over yesterday at the Golden Grove Police Station.
Chairman of the Diamond Community Policing Group Philip Ishmael explained that recipients of the donation include the Yarrowkabra Community Policing Group and others along the East Bank of Demerara.
In addition, a new vehicle will also be used to patrol the Grove/Diamond communities.
Mr. Ishmael, who is also the Liaison Officer for community policing groups from Long Creek to Ruimveldt, revealed that he is attempting to form a similar group in Bagotstown.
