The week is going to see more of the madness on which the past year ended. Schools, as they reopen, will once more see minibuses rushing to capitalize on the possibility of fares to compensate for the expenditure the owners and operators incurred this past month.
It is this that would lead to a crash that was as avoidable as swallowing a football. The injuries would be minor but the message would be clear—the madness has returned.

Crime will continue to take a back seat because the major planners are on the run. Two drug dealers would become angry at being unable to recruit carriers and there is going to be some gunplay because of rivalry but the police would be quick to intervene. The newspapers are going to get some headlines.

A drowning in a most unlikely place would have a community taking it out against a single woman whom the people would describe as careless and irresponsible. However, the law is still to be fashioned that would allow such people to be punished.

There is money to be won and a lucky person is going to be a few million dollars richer. The New Year is really going to be kissed by some.
