Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Dr Frank Anthony, has said that he is convinced that, “Swansea was contracted to provide light and sound for the Carifesta opening, and other events; and since it was not able to do this, the matter is with the Attorney General’s Chambers.”
The minister added that since Swansea was not able to provide this service, the ministry was under the impression that it was a legal matter.
And commenting on the staffing for CARIFESTA, he said: “Some were paid employees and some were volunteers, and coordinating that number of people will always be a challenge.” He added that, to his mind, coordinating that many persons would prove difficult.
He added that approximately 98 percent of Carifesta participants have been paid, but, “Most persons, whom we owed have been paid. There might have been one or two things which we might have needed to clarify. (For) The other two percent, we are sorting out the issues we have with those payments.
“I don’t see that as a major problem.” There are reportedly duplicated invoices, and things of that manner.
