A 31-year-old Bent Street, Wortmanville man is nursing a gunshot wound to his right foot following what police described as a drug deal that went sour.
Kelvin Barker was wounded when a man in a motor car opened fire on him at about 23:25 hours on Old Year’s Night. Police said that their investigations have revealed that Barker and another man had an argument which was suspected to involve narcotics.
Later that evening, while Barker was standing at Hardina Street, the man drove up in a motor car along with two other men and discharged a round at Barker, which struck him on his right foot.
The men then escaped in the motor vehicle.
Barker was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for medical treatment.
No one has so far been arrested.
