The police are investigating an incident that occurred at about 03:00 hours yesterday at Samatta Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara, during which one of three men who were found attempting to break into a shop was caught by residents of the area and reportedly beaten.
Fortunately, unlike two previous village beatings, the suspect was lucky to be admitted a patient under guard at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
Another man has been arrested and is assisting with the investigations.
Yesterday’s incident comes in the wake of an appeal by Acting Police Commissioner Henry Greene who called for persons to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
