Mrs. Pamela Savory, mother of the late Constable Savory, receives a hamper from acting Commissioner Henry Greene.
As part of its activities during the festive season, the Guyana Police Force is assisting in bringing Christmas cheer to the relatives of police ranks who were killed in the line of duty by presenting these relatives with food hampers.
Senior officers of the Force, including the Commissioner and Divisional Commanders, are involved in this gesture.
On Christmas Day, the heavy rainfall could not prevent the acting Commissioner Henry Greene from discharging his responsibility in making presentations of hampers to the relatives of the late Constables 19146 Omari Savory and 19886 Ron Osborne, who were killed in the line of duty.
Constable 19146 Omari Savory was shot and killed on 2004-08-18 during a police operation on the East Coast of Demerara, while Constable 19886 Ron Osborne was shot and killed on 2008-02-17 during an attack on the Bartica Police Station by a group of heavily armed men.
The hampers were received by Mrs. Pamela Savory, mother of the late Constable Savory, and Constable 19571 Trion Willie, brother of the late Constable Osborne.
Commander ‘A’ Division, Assistant Commissioner Leroy Brumell, also presented a food hamper to Ms. Nicola Bess, daughter-in-law of the late Assistant Superintendent Richard Griffith, who was shot and killed on 2004-03-01 while on duty at the Traffic Office at the Brickdam Police Station.
