Two men are currently in police custody after they were arrested moments after they had attempted to rob Corentyne businessman Dalip Chand, of Kiltearn, Corentyne, who was securing his premises at the time when he was attacked by two men.
This newspaper was told that the men, who reportedly had weapons, pounced on the man and ordered him to re-open the shop.
The man then threw himself on the floor and began screaming, causing the men to panic. At the same time, the neighbours were alerted.
The police were called, and responded promptly.
Acting on information received at the scene, police subsequently apprehended two men after being given descriptions.
The men are to be placed on an identification parade.
